Research Assistant Position with The Cognition & Development Lab

The Cognition & Development Lab (PI: Lucas Payne Butler) is
looking for a research assistant for the
2023-24 school year.

Our lab investigates children’s social cognitive development and we are looking for undergraduates who are interested in learning more about what it’s like to do scientific research!
Research assistants will need to commit 10 hours per week (in person) for 2 semesters during which they will learn about the research both that our lab conducts and that is important in the wider field of social cognitive development. We try to provide research assistants in our lab with the opportunity to learn about as much of the research process as possible.

You do not need to have any prior research experience! We are looking for applicants who have some experience working with children in any capacity (especially 2-5 year old children) and who are excited to be involved in research! You will have the option to receive 3 credits per semester for your time.

Responsibilities:
attend lab meetings (1 hour)
meet with your graduate student mentor (.5-1 hr)
creating stimuli for new studies, helping conduct studies with children, recording data (6-7 hrs)
reading scientific papers and professional development (1-2 hrs)

How To Apply:

Application Review will begin on 9/13/23 and remain open until filled. If you have any further questions, please email teresamg@umd.edu
