Earn credit for your Fall 2026 internship through PSYC 389 Experiential Learning!

Psychology Majors can earn academic credit for an 

in-person, hybrid, or virtual internship
through PSYC 389 Experiential Learning. 

PSYC 389 Enrollment Steps

PSYC 389 Experiential Learning is the course undergraduate psychology majors enroll in to earn academic credit for a professionally supervised and department approved internship experience. It is an asynchronous online course that assists the student in making meaning of their internship through processing, reflection, and exploration activities. 

Here are the steps for obtaining permission to register for PSYC 389. If you already have secured an internship, you can complete this learning agreement. In the summer, the course is 12 weeks, in fall and spring 15 weeks. 

Specific learning outcomes include the following:

*Engage in meaningful goal setting and problem solving relative to an internship site industry

*Communicate how one’s internship uniquely qualifies one for a future experiential learning opportunity or advanced degree

*Understand and articulate connections between one’s formal educational training in psychology and the professional work setting

*Critically examine how one’s internship is impacting one’s assumptions and beliefs about the field of psychology

*Self-Assess, manage, and apply supervisor feedback

*Effectively participate in professional development tasks that align with one’s internship and career path/goals

*Create deliverables to effectively market your internship to a future employer or Graduate School

Fall 2026 ICON Lab Research Assistant Positions

The Integrative Cognition and Neuroscience Lab at the University of Maryland, College Park, is looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic undergraduate research assistants.

Description:
The lab conducts research on the human brain and behavior to understand memory and cognition. We are curious about what constitutes the mind, how it is implemented in the brain, and how it relates to one's health. Our research is focused on memory, as it captures both the content (what we remember) and process (how we remember) of the mind, providing a solid foundation for us to understand more complex mental phenomena, such as affect, decision-making, social interaction, and mental health. Research Assistants will have the opportunity to gain experience in participant recruitment and behavioral/neural data collection for several ongoing research projects. Applicants who are interested in basic cognition or human neuroscience may be a good fit for the lab.

Requirements and Responsibilities:
-Commit 6-12 hours per week
-Enroll in PSYC379/479 or Neuroscience/Biology major equivalent.
-Availability for at least 4 consecutive semesters
-Assist with data collection (behavioral, EEG, fMRI)
-Attend weekly lab meetings
-Contribute and present conference posters

Qualifications:
-Excited and motivated about research in memory and human cognition.
-Major in Psychology, Neuroscience, or other related field
-Strong academic background (minimum 3.3 GPA)
-Strong communication, organizational, and professionalism skills

Thank you for your interest in being a TA for PSYC355 (Developmental Psychology)! I (Dr. Tyrell) anticipate needing TAs for two sections of the course (1 section taught in Summer 2026, 1 section taught in Fall 2026). The Fall 2026 opportunity is made possible through course credit. Applicants offered the position will be required to enroll in Psych 478 for 2-3 credits. TAs will be given a syllabus for their enrollment in Psych 478. Benefits include: building leadership, communication, and mentoring skills; opportunity to give a short lecture or review; gain a deeper understanding of Developmental Psychology. For those who want to be a TA for the Summer. This is a VOLUNTEER OPORTUNITY. I won't be able to pay you or grant you credit for the summer position.

We are currently accepting applications at the Institute for National Strategic Studies at the

National Defense University, Washington, DC for summer 2026 semester. Interviews are ongoing starting with the first round April 6-9 for the selection of the summer internship and paper writing focus during the academic year.

Internship applications of highly motivated undergraduate (3.5+ GPA; with a goal of graduate
school) and interested graduate psychology students are being accepted. If accepted, students
will be members of the Leadership Fitness Lab and work with Dr. Stephen Bowles, Ph.D. on
various topics, including:

● Strength based Positive Psychology, Mindfulness, and Well-being focused topics
● Military Couples & Soldiers and/or Spouses Resilience, PTSD, and Social Support
● Leadership, Family, Social Support and Well-Being
● Emotional Intelligence, Personality, Well-Being, and Performance in Military Recruiters
● Non-Research areas of Internship: Mindfulness Course TA

Responsibilities include:
● Literature reviews, PowerPoint presentations, poster presentations, manuscript editing, and familiarity with APA writing style and possibly AMA writing style.
● Preparing publication submissions (strong writing skills and editing skills)
● Coordination of articles with co-authors and organization of community events
● Organizing literature reviews, manuscripts, and other relevant research material
● Database entry/management/data analysis (use or ability with SPSS, Qualtrics, Excel, social media)

Hours preferred:
● Washington, DC area (32+ hours hybrid remote and in-person combination; with an option for semester credit)

Conscious Living is a new undergraduate student organization 

starting in Fall 2026. The mission is to

Conscious Living Leadership Responsibilities: 

-Attending and helping facilitate Fall 2026 club meetings.
-Managing specific operational duties related to the chosen role (e.g., managing finances, running social media accounts, organizing club events).
-Committing a consistent number of hours per week to club duties (varies based on roles: event coordinator, secretary, risk chair, etc.)

Qualifications/Requirements:

-Must be a current undergraduate student at UMD (open to Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, and other undergrads).
-Open to all majors and minors.
-Must possess a strong interest in psychology

The 2026 PSYC Terp Research Fair will be held on Monday, April 27 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in the BRB Colonnade.

Submissions are due by Wednesday March 25th at 5:00 pm and presenters will be notified whether their posters are accepted by Thursday, April 2. We encourage every lab to present at least one poster, each honors student to present a poster, and PREP students to submit at least one poster. Please click here to submit an application for your presentation. **Please note: PSYC undergraduate students must be first authors on posters.

Presentation of research awards will be announced after the research fair by email, blog, and website. Students can nominate their faculty mentor for the Outstanding Faculty Research Mentor Award by clicking here. Additionally, a team of faculty and advisors will select posters to be awarded Gold, Silver, Bronze, and People's Choice Awards.

Department of Psychology's Annual Multicultural Climate Survey

The purpose of the survey is to understand how inclusive our Psychology department feels to you. We would like to hear your honest feedback about our strengths and weaknesses as they relate to our mission of creating a respectful, affirming, and inclusive environment.

The Psychology department will use the survey results to help us improve our multicultural climate. Your responses are anonymous. Although the survey is anonymous, students have an option of clicking a link to a separate survey to enter their name and course information for courses that offer extra credit. Additionally, students names will be entered into a lottery to win one of four $100 gift cards.

A summary of the results will be shared with faculty, staff, and students. We will hold a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. The survey will be open until Monday, March 9th. We are especially interested in hearing what feels most pressing to students as they return to campus in the current political climate.

It is our hope that you will join us in this departmental evaluation and answer as honestly as possible.

Paid Summer Internship in Boston

The Ai4CommSci Lab invites undergraduate students and graduating 

seniors to apply for our 2026 paid
summer internship program. 

We will host summer interns for a 9-week internship from June 1st to July 31st in Boston. Please note that these times (and the location) are not flexible, as this is a structured program. Interns will receive a stipend of $7,000 in installments over the summer for a 40-hour work week. This stipend will cover all living expenses for the duration of the internship program.

 

Responsibilities:    
Interns' primary responsibility will be helping with testing children (ages 2 to 7) in an ongoing series of studies focused on cognitive development. Most of the studies will focus on children's growing understanding of physical mechanics, especially balance and support. It is possible that interns will also work on a language development study.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Prior experience working with children (or a compelling story about why you'd be good at it 

Be a US citizen, national, or permanent resident
Be a current undergraduate (seniors who graduate in May are also eligible)
Being able to be in person in Boston June 1 to July 31
Particular interest in cognitive development and/or language acquisition

Students who have strong programming skills will be able to put those to use, but this is not a requirement
Prior research experience is nice but by no means critical
