Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Psychology
Students who wish to pursue the Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) must complete all of the BA requirements and at least three additional courses/10 credits from the list below. Of these three additional courses, one must be a lab course. Course offerings are subject to change, so we recommend that you ask a Psychology Advisor to review your plan to satisfy the B.S.
Requirements for B.A. in Psychology – 35 credits
1. Complete gateway requirements
a. PSYC100 (or PSYC221 if receiving AP credit for PSYC100 with at least a B
b. MATH120 or MATH140 with at least a C
c. BSCI170/BSCI171 with at least a C
2. Foundation courses: Complete PSYC100, PSYC200, and PSYC300
3. Thematic courses: Complete 2 courses from each theme, with one thematic course also fulfilling the multicultural requirement
a. Theme I: Mind, Brain, and Behavior
b. Theme II: Mental Health and Interventions
c. Theme III: Social, Developmental, and Organizational Studies
4. 400 level courses: Complete 2 400-level PSYC non-labs and 1 400-level PSYC lab
Additional requirements for B.S. in Psychology – 10 credits
5. Complete three additional advanced courses from the list below. Of the three additional courses, one must be a lab. Lab courses are bolded and underlined. You must have met all prerequisites listed on Testudo. PSYC courses counting towards the B.S. requirements will NOT count towards the thematic or 400 level requirements for the PSYC major.
