Research Assistants for Counseling PSYC Dissertation Study

Manuel Teran Hernández (he/him) is a PhD Candidate in 
Counseling Psychology at UMD. His
dissertation study is a qualitative exploration of intersectional discrimination and health (i.e., mental health, substance use, and sexual behaviors) among young U.S. Latino/x/e gay, bisexual, and queer men. For this study, he is using reflexive thematic analysis and has completed the recruitment and data collection process. He is now assembling a research team to begin coding and analyzing the data. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in Latino/x/e and/or LGBTQ+ mental health, intersectionality, and qualitative research methods. As a first-gen college student, Manuel values mentorship and is committed to supporting students. Qualifications:
-CITI Social and Behavioral Research Certificate
-Current Psychology or related Social Science major/minor
