The Resilient Adaptation Across Culture and Context (RACC) Lab (PI: Dr. Fanita Tyrell) is looking to hire a Spanish-speaking research assistant for the Spring 2025 semester. Students will assist with recruitment, data collection, and community outreach events. The RACC Lab conducts research on how different processes of risk and protection support or undermine the identity development, adaptation, and health outcomes of youth and families from adversity-exposed, ethnic-racial minority, and immigrant backgrounds.

Research assistants are highly valued members of the RACC Lab and have opportunities to experience all aspects of the research process. This is an excellent opportunity for students seeking research experience in preparation for graduate school!
Students will receive $18 per hour (approximately 5 - 10 hours a week). Work may be extended beyond the Spring 2025 semester pending funding. If students would like to continue working with the lab beyond the 125 hours of work for the Spring semester, they can enroll in PSYC 479 for course credit in Fall 2025.
Responsibilities:
Assisting with recruitment efforts with schools, families, and community partners,
Translating and interacting with Spanish-speaking community members
Coordinating outreach activities – designing and publicizing events, and interfacing with local nonprofits and community partners
Developing new partnerships related to community engagement
Scheduling and coordinating meetings with community partners and the PI
Qualifications:
Excited and motivated about working with ethnic-racial minority & immigrant communities
Must commit to approximately 10 hours a week
Strong academic background (i.e., Minimum 3.0 GPA)
Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and organizational skills
Fluent in both English and Spanish
You do not need to have any prior research experience! As long as you are excited to learn about scientific research and are comfortable talking to adults and children, we would love for you to apply!
