Internship at National Defense University
We are currently accepting applications at the Institute for National Strategic Studies at the National Defense University in Fort McNair, Washington, DC for the spring and/or summer 2024 semester. Interviews are ongoing for the selection for the summer internship.
Internship applications of highly motivated undergraduate (3.5+ GPA; with a goal of graduate school) and interested graduate psychology students are being accepted. If accepted, students will be members of the Leadership Fitness Lab and work with COL (Ret.) Stephen Bowles, Ph.D. on various topics, including:
● Strength based Positive Psychology, Mindfulness, and Well-being focus
● Emotional Intelligence, Personality, Well-Being, and Performance in Military Recruiters
● Military (injured & non-injured service members) Couples Resilience, PTSD, Social Support and Relationship Quality
● Leadership, Family, Social Support and Well-Being
● Non-Research Areas of Internship: Community Professional Education/Media, & Mindfulness Course TA
Responsibilities include:
● Literature reviews, PowerPoint presentations, poster presentations, manuscript editing, and writing
● Preparing publication submissions
● Coordination of articles with co-authors and organization of community events
● Organizing literature reviews, manuscripts, and other relevant research material
● Database entry/management/data analysis
Hours preferred: 8-12 hours in the spring semester and 28+ hours per week during summer (with an option for semester credit)
This can be flexible, depending upon class and work schedules. We are looking for someone with an interest in research, particularly in military-related psychology, but not necessarily exclusive to that topic.
