Mental Health Awareness Week: October 2-6

The Mental Health Coalition invites the UMD 
community to Mental Health Awareness Week, October 2-6! UMD's Mental Health Awareness Week is an annual weeklong program of events to reduce stigma on campus and improve student wellbeing. Now more than ever, we want to be sure that students are actively taking care of their mental health.

Planting Healthy Roots: A Plant Decorating Mental Health Event

Did you know growing plants is good for your mental health? Join us to begin growing your indoor garden by decorating your own mini succulent and creating gratitude grams in appreciation for those who have helped you grow strong roots.

Meet Your Mental Health Providers
5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
STAMP Atrium

Join us in a casual setting (with snacks) to meet the UMD staff who provide mental health services to students! Learn about the resources available to you and put a name and face to the network of people who can support you during times of crisis.

Create-a-Zine: Identity and Mental Health
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
STAMP Studio A

Explore your identities and mental health using art! We'll guide you through the process of creating your own pocket zine (magazine) in a fun and creative way to learn more about yourself and others. No artistic "skill" required!

Depression Screenings

STAMP Southeast Entrance and Student Involvement Suite (SORC)

Depression is one of the most common mental health concerns, so let’s learn the signs to help prevent and treat it. Take a brief depression assessment and talk privately with a Counseling Center staff person about the results. Stop by to learn more about your mental health, find ways to help a friend, or get some information about mental health services on campus.
 
Harvesting Hope: Community Service in the Garden
3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
UMD Community Learning Garden

Doing service is good for your mental health and your community! Join us to learn about sustainable growing practices, help harvest produce for the Campus Pantry, and connect with your fellow Terps. Register for the Event

Self-Care Fair
12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
McKeldin Mall

Join us at the Self-Care Fair–an interactive celebration of mental health–to start your weekend off right! We’ll have therapy dogs, free food, games, carnival activities, prizes, mental health resources, and more! Learn from campus departments, student orgs, and community partners about how we can take care of ourselves and each other.
