Want to make your voice heard by your legislators? NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Howard County and NAMI Maryland are hosting a virtual Advocacy Day on Feb. 18 to ask our Maryland State Legislators’ support for bills to increase funding for mental health programs, improve access to services, and help people living with mental illness stay out of jail. NAMI Maryland will arrange group meetings with legislators and provide information about preferred legislation. You don’t have to be an expert to meet your legislator. Your personal experience is important and compelling. There will be a training webinar on Feb. 15th at 3 pm. Registration information below.
To help prepare for Advocacy Day, NAMI Howard County is holding a virtual "Smarts for Advocacy" Training on Feb. 6 from 9-12 pm. "Smarts for Advocacy" trains individuals and their families affected by mental illness to tell a succinct and compelling story to advocate for legislation.
