The Literacy Lab works to close the achievement
gap by providing
pre-K and elementary schools with evidence-based literacy intervention, full-time literacy tutors to implement the model, and assessment tools and a coaching support structure that ensures the success of the program and students. If you have an interest in education, non-profits, social justice, or community empowerment, we encourage you to consider our one-year program!
We are hiring tutors for the 2020-21 school year beginning in August 2020. Because of class cancellations and distance learning, we anticipate many students may be struggling to connect with employers and feeling anxious, and therefore we are offering to connect virtually with any interested individuals and will begin hosting webinars three times a week.
The Literacy Lab is an AmeriCorps partner program providing individualized reading support for students ages 3 to grade 3 in Baltimore and other cities across the country. During their one-year service term, tutors receive training and support, a modest cost-of-living stipend, health insurance, and are eligible for SNAP benefits if they choose to use them.
