Description:
One position is open for a full-time research assistant to work on a new research project in the Child Development Lab. This multi-site project is investigating the effects of prenatal substance exposure and early adversity on neurodevelopment. The study will involve recruitment and retention of a large cohort for assessments that will include MRI, EEG, behavioral, and eye-tracking. Primary responsibilities include recruiting from prenatal clinics around the metro DC region (including several predominantly Spanish-speaking neighborhoods), scheduling visits, and assessing pregnant women, and over time their infants evaluating longitudinal retention success, generating materials to support and educate pregnant women regarding substance use.

The successful applicant should be native Spanish speaker with very good communication skills in both English and Spanish. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Candidates should demonstrate familiarity with basic and/or clinical research laboratories, have experience working with children (and preferably, pregnant women) in a research/clinical context, and should be able to describe their previous success with participant recruitment.
