Course Description:
This course will help students gain a cross cultural understanding of child development and poverty in different contexts: the U.S. and Chile. In this projectbased course, students will work on international teams formed by 2 US and 2 Chilean students.
This course will cover:
• Conceptualizations of poverty in the US and Chile
• Demographic data
• Public policies to fight poverty
• Empirical research on the impact of poverty on children and adolescents in a variety of domains
This is a collaboration with Dr. Daniela Aldoney in Chile and students in this course will have the opportunity to work closely with students in Chile.
