What is Boundless Edventures?
Boundless Edventures is an Annapolis-based non-profit organization that provides
adventure therapy to neurodivergent teens through outdoor programs and activities.

Mission:
Using adventure therapy to help teens break through social, emotional, physical, and intellectual barriers through outdoor, adventure-driven experiences that foster personal growth, social connection and life skills.

Vision:
A culture of empowerment where young people with different abilities feel confident, respected,
and supported through accessible opportunities outside their personal comfort zone; where they can be accepted for who they are without having to change to fit in; and where friendship is built on shared experiences that challenge them socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually alongside their peers.

What it is like to be a Boundless Volunteer?
This is not the kind of volunteer position where we just “supervise” our
participants. We have up to 12 differently abled 12–20-year-olds attend
each edventure. We get in the water, we fish, we tube, we sail, we
paddle and we "play” together as a group! We help our teens, some who
often prefer to talk only to adults, to engage in conversations with each
other. We encourage our teens to actively participate with the group,
including those who may prefer to stay on the sidelines. Most
importantly we keep our teens safe, even through moments of difficulty
with self-regulation. As a volunteer, your active participation, silliness
and playfulness within the group will help teens to build trust, positive relationships, and
challenge themselves physically, emotionally and cognitively.

Volunteer Expectations:

Arrive 15 minutes before every scheduled edventure.
● Create a fun, safe and inclusive experience for all edventurers.
● Keep verbal instructions minimal (our teens learn best as they experience it, and
attention span is often short).
● Always keep eyes on edventurers. Volunteers must escort our teens when they need
to move away from the group (ie: restroom, for pick up, or during break time).
● Act as a companion and encourager of edventurers while promoting confidence and
strong self-esteem.
● Encourage edventurers to make social connections with each other by modeling an
inclusive, supportive environment and fostering interactions during down time.
● Assist edventurers as needed with preparation and participation of all activities. Ask
permission before providing hands on assistance (some of our teens do not like to be
touched).
● Set a good example to edventurers and others by upholding all Boundless Edventures
rules and expectations.
● Set a high standard of positivity, cooperation, collaboration, and work ethic.
