The Lab: The Maryland ADHD Program is committed to conducting clinical research to improve the assessment and treatment of ADHD, providing assessment and treatment to the community, training the next generation of child clinical psychologists, and educating parents, schools, and the community about assessment and treatment for ADHD and other behavioral and emotional disorders.
Current Studies:
Treating Parents with ADHD and their Children (T-PAC)
An implementation trial evaluating two approaches to improve parent, child, and family functioning for families where a parent and child experience ADHD symptoms.
RAs will learn to transcribe and code parent-child interaction and/or behavioral parenting training sessions.
The CRAFT-ADHD study (led by PI Hong Bui, MS)
Aims to utilize community-engaged recruitment approaches (e.g., educational workshops, community forums) to adapt an intervention to support parents of young adults with ADHD who are disengaged with treatment/academic services.
RAs will facilitate recruitment efforts of diverse parents, young adults with ADHD, and providers (i.e., mental health, ADHD coach), receive mentorship in qualitative coding/rapid analysis, and contribute to manuscript preparation.
The Stimulant Medication Shortage (SMS) study (led by PI Daria Taubin, MS)
Qualitative project that seeks to examine how college students taking stimulant medication for ADHD were impacted by the national shortage of stimulant medications.
This project will consist of conducting semi-structured interviews with students affected by the shortage, as well as transcribing, coding, and analyzing these interviews using thematic analysis techniques.
Responsibilities May Include:
-Attending weekly meetings including the lab meeting and any project-related meetings
-Article readings & discussion questions about ADHD and related disorders (3+ per semester)
-Complete a Research Paper if taking position as a course (1 per semester)

-Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort with talking on the phone
-Effective organizational and time-management skills
-Attention to detail and ability to work on complex tasks independently
-Ability to commit to in-person work
-Ability to work with others effectively
-Interest in working with families with ADHD and related disorders and/or interest in implementation sciences
Recommended qualifications (**Note: Prior research experience not required)
-Experience with customer service or related skill
-Experience working with families or children
Dates/Hours:
RAs are required to provide a minimum one-year commitment (through Spring 2026) pending successful performance review. Students must register to take PSYC 479 for 3 credit hours, or students may apply to volunteer for the lab on a case-by-case basis. This is equivalent to 9 hours a week working for the lab, the majority of which should be during business hours, but weeknight availability may be required.
