Full-Time Post-Bac/Lab Manager Position with The Social Learning and Decisions Lab!

The Social Learning and Decisions Lab 
(PI: Caroline Charpentier) at the University of Maryland, College Park, is seeking applications for a full-time lab manager/research assistant (formal title: Faculty Specialist) to start September 2023. UMD College Park is located just five miles from vibrant Washington DC, is metro accessible and conveniently located in the DMV (DC-Maryland-Virginia) area. Current research in the lab focuses on uncovering the behavioral and neural computations involved in human social and affective decision-making, with a strong interest in how individual variability in these processes relate to neurodiversity and psychopathology.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain research experience in preparation for a graduate career, and to be a crucial part of the set-up of a new lab. 

Responsibilities: 
The lab manager/research assistant’s will be responsible for: Managing day-to-day lab activities (lab website, handbook, IRB protocols, organizing lab meetings, maintaining/ordering equipment, outreach and social events).
Screening, recruiting and testing participants for behavioral and neuroimaging studies.
Training and supervising undergraduate research assistants.
Programming experimental paradigms (PsychoPy, jsPsych).
Analyzing data and contributing to conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
Helping with the lab’s IT setup (server) and data management protocol (archiving, sharing).

Qualifications: 
Required qualifications include (1) a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science or other related field, (2) excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, and (3) good computational skills (programming in R, Python, Matlab, JavaScript or another programming language).

Additional preferred qualifications include past research experience, interest in social neuroscience, behavioral economics, and/or computational psychiatry, desire to work with neurodivergent/clinical populations, experience with fMRI data collection or analysis, as well as computer science/IT skills (server set-up, website/database management).

A 2-year commitment is preferred but 1-year position will also be considered. Salary will be competitive, commensurate with experience, and includes health benefits. Application review will begin immediately.
