Leadership and Community Service Learning Internship

Are you interested in gaining experience working 
with nonprofit organizations, database management,
community outreach, and communications/marketing? This is the internship for you! Apply to be a Community Outreach Student Intern. The application is open from now until April 14, 2023.

The Community Outreach Intern will assist in cultivating partnerships with community members, organizations, agencies, and campus units vital to the success of LCSL programs and initiatives and community needs and interests.

About the Role: The intern will gain experience working with nonprofit organizations, database management, community outreach, and communications/marketing. Additionally, the internship is a structured experience guided by ongoing mentorship, supervision, and feedback focused on the student’s learning and development through knowledge acquisition and experience.

Responsibilities:
Outreach to service partners to ensure consistent engagement on Services 24/7 and ensure viable volunteer opportunities are cultivated for students.

Create and maintain innovative strategies to market Services 24/7 to students, across campus units and departments, including but not limited to partnering with student organization advisors and support staff.

Support the Coordinator for Curriculum and Partnerships in developing and cultivating long-term relationships with community partners.

Serve as the point of contact for nearly 300 service partners on Services 24/7.

Assist in various research projects, including creating and maintaining contacts for stakeholder lists.

Promote LCSL programs and initiatives at campus events (e.g., First Look Fair)

Requirements and Qualifications:
Must be enrolled as a student at the University of Maryland for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Must be able to make a one-year commitment and be able to work 10hr/week.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

This position requires high levels of responsibility, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and excellent customer service skills.

Previous experience compiling and writing newsletters and updating websites is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:
The term of this appointment is 10hr/week from August 2023 until May 2024 (excluding University holidays). The annual stipend for this position is $2,200 (dispersed in four increments of $550).
