Remote Volunteer Coordinator Internship

The Petey Green Program

The Petey Greene Program supports the academic goals 
of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people
through high-quality volunteer tutoring programs while educating volunteers on the injustice manifest in our carceral systems.

The Role:
The Petey Greene Program is seeking Volunteer Coordinators to support the
implementation of our high school and college bridge programs in the D.C. Region.
Volunteer Coordinators will support the Regional Manager or the College Bridge
Program Coordinator with the smooth-running of the D.C. programs, from
recruitment and onboarding of our volunteer tutors, to managing the coordination
of them throughout the semester.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
● Vet volunteer tutor applications and conduct interviews, in collaboration with
PGP staff and campus leadership teams
● Support with assigning tutors to PGP programs and creating their schedules
● Support with onboarding, training, orientation and facility clearance processes
to place volunteer tutors onto our programs
● Monitor tutor attendance, feedback and follow up with any necessary support
requests, and provide reminders for tutors who have not submitted
attendance forms
● Support with the coordination of weekly transportation for in-person
volunteers and the reimbursement of the associated transportation costs
● Coordinate and manage tutor data via Salesforce and Google Workspace
● Support with offboarding of tutors at the end of the semester, including
reminding tutors to complete debriefs and evaluations
● Be a point of contact for volunteer tutors, especially if an incident occurs or a
tutor misses a tutoring session, and flag issues to the Program Coordinators
when necessary
● Option to participate in weekly all-staff meetings

Competencies:
The ideal candidate would have:
● Proficiency in Google Workspace
● Attention to detail and very strong organization and time management skills
● The ability to communicate effectively and professionally via email and phone,
in a timely manner
● The ability to work autonomously and proactively, whilst also working well as
part of a team
● The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and prioritize accordingly
● Awareness of issues related to mass incarceration and broader social justice
concerns is preferred
● Proficiency with Canva and Salesforce would be considered a bonus
