diverse community in psychology? Come to the Enter the PhD Workshop on Friday, April 12th, 2024! The workshop is geared toward freshman or sophomore PSYC majors who identify with underrepresented racial/ethnic minority groups and/or who are the first in their family to go to college.
This workshop is a great opportunity to learn more about psychology related Ph.D. programs at UMD including Clinical, Cognitive, Counseling, Developmental, Industrial/Organizational, Neuroscience, or Social psychology. Participants will meet Psychology faculty and graduate students who will answer questions such as:
• Why should I consider a doctoral degree (PhD) in psychology?
• What are the differences between a master's degree and a doctoral degree in psychology?
• What are the different career paths available to those who earn a PhD in psychology?
• What are the different research areas of psychology? • What is life as a psychology graduate student really like?
• What steps can I start taking now to be a desirable candidate for psychology PhD programs?
We are especially interested in applicants who identify with historically excluded racial/ethnic minority groups and/or who are the first in their families to go to college, and/or students who experience financial hardship. However, all students who are committed to strengthening psychology by increasing diversity and inclusion in the field will receive serious consideration.
