Fall 2023 Research Assistant Positions with The Interpersonal Relationships Lab!

The lab is supervised by Dr. Edward Lemay. Currently, Dr. Lemay is conducting a grant-funded study examining the impact of primal world beliefs (i.e., a set of environmental beliefs and expectations regarding the world) on interpersonal relationship functioning and performance at work using dyadic, longitudinal, behavioral observation, and experience sampling methods.

There are several opportunities for students to assist with the project, including the following primary roles: (1) collecting primals data, (2) coding participant interaction videos, and (3) primals study coordinator.

Students may also have opportunities to assist with literature reviews, data coding, study planning, and data collection. Students will also attend lab meetings to discuss related research on the topics mentioned above. Undergraduate students may also enroll in PSYC 479 to earn credit.

Responsibilities: 
-Assist lab meetings as well as any project-related meetings, as needed
-Assist with data collection (involves meeting with participants via Zoom)
-Code research data
-Contact participants to schedule data collection session (emailing/calling)
-Program Qualtrics Surveys
-Read research articles
-Complete a research paper (for those enrolled in PSYC 479 only)

Qualifications:
-Ability to work for 9 hours per week, which can be during business hours, however, students with evening and/or weeknight availability is particularly helpful toward study efforts
-Effective organizational and time-management skills
-Attentive to detail and ability to work on complex tasks independently 
-Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort with communicating with participants
-Interest in social psychology and relationships research
-Optional: Register for PSYC 479 (Special Research-Experience in Psychology)
