initiative dedicated to the needs of autistic transgender individuals. The intersection of autism and gender diversity is common: ~11% of transgender/gender diverse people are autistic.We are thrilled to announce a full-time foundation-funded Scholar position for an ambitious
young researcher at the post-bac, post-masters, or postdoc level. The Rocking Moon Research
and Advocacy Scholar will develop national and international research advocacy products to
support the wellbeing of autistic transgender people.
Embedded within our interdisciplinary clinical research program, the Scholar will develop novel
research efforts with this population. The position is designed to advance the Scholar’s
development of research, clinical, and advocacy skills. There is flexibility in how the position is
designed; it can be personalized/adjusted to meet the needs—and skillsets—of top applicants.
Qualifications:
Ideally, the applicant will have: (1) a strong interest in autism and gender diversity and a wish to
specialize in work with this population, (2) experience with broad research methods and
statistics, and (3) an interest in using research to support advocacy and change at the local,
national, and international levels. A minimum of a B.S. or B.A. is required, but applicants with
more advanced training are also welcome. A solid background in psychology, biology, and/or
health sciences is preferred.
Responsibilities:
General activities for the Scholar include: design of research methods for linking clinical and
research programs, clinical assessment, and integration with advocacy organizations to develop
plans for dissemination of recommendations. The Scholar will participate in grant preparation,
data analysis, and development of manuscripts. Authorship and co-authorship on publications
will be strongly encouraged and supported.
