Dr. Fanita Tyrell in the Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park is hiring a part-time post-baccalaureate Faculty Specialist (i.e., lab manager/coordinator) beginning in June/July 2023. The lab manager will work under the supervision of the PI to oversee the daily operations of the RACC lab. The RACC Lab uses different methods (questionnaires, interviews, psychophysiology, observational) and informants (adolescents, parents, peers, romantic partners) to investigate how different processes of risk and protection support or undermine the identity development, adaptation, and health outcomes of youth and families from adversity-exposed, ethnic-racial minority, and immigrant backgrounds. In addition, a primary focus of this lab is to understand what cultural and contextual processes strengthen pathways to typical and atypical patterns of development.


Responsibilities:
The lab manager position will coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of the lab. Specific responsibilities include:

· Preparing research materials and protocols;
· Preparing human subjects/IRB protocols and maintaining IRB compliance;
· Training and supervising undergraduate research assistants, including assigning daily activities, monitoring work, and communicating with the PI about student activities and performance;
· Performing research with human participants (e.g., administering questionnaires, conducting-in person interviews with adolescents, parents, community members, and organizations);
· Conducting general administrative duties (e.g., purchasing research supplies and equipment);
· Coordinating outreach activities, designing accessible recruitment materials, contacting and scheduling research participants;
· Coding, cleaning, and managing datasets;
· Assisting with basic analysis of data using statistical software;
· Assisting with preparation of grants, conference presentations, and research publications

Requirements: Ideal applicants for the lab manager position 
should have a bachelor’s degree or higher
in a field related to psychology, human development, biostatistics, stress physiology, or a related discipline. Required experience and/or training in one or more programming languages and/or statistical software: R, Matlab, Python, SPSS, Mplus, SAS, or STATA. Applicants with extensive community-based research experience, are familiar with the DMV area and local nonprofits, phlebotomy certified or willingness to become certified are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants with more advanced degrees (e.g., M.S./M.A.) will be considered and would have additional opportunities (e.g., publishing, grant-writing); pay will be commensurate with experience.
