The John W. Brick Mental Health Foundation is dedicated to changing the way the world treats mental health by funding evidence-based research and programs to promote holistic, integrative approaches towards mental healthcare. The JWB Foundation is currently seeking 4 highly motivated interns to join our team. Interns will participate in the Foundation’s current research projects: systematic reviews for evaluating the role of nutrition on mental health outcomes. This internship is an excellent opportunity for the student to gain training and experience working with a non-profit foundation, develop critical literature review and analysis skills, and learn how to perform a systematic review. Responsibilities:
-Participate in a systematic literature review on the relationship between mental health outcomes and macro and micronutrient consumption (via supplements or dietary patterns)
-Perform data extraction, screening, and assessment of abstracts and full-text articles for the review
-Update and maintain catalog of articles within the review database
-Assist in development and preparation final report by synthesizing evidence and drafting deliverables of the information
-Meet weekly with project team and supervisors
-Assist with updating existing scoping review of exercise and mental health outcomes
Requirements:
-Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree
-Excellent oral and written scientific communication skills
-Proven organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills
-Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment to work towards project deadlines and goals
Preferences:
-Prior research experience, or background in clinical research design and systematic review methods
-Demonstrated ability to use PubMed/Medline and/or reference manager programs (ie: EndNote, Mendeley)
-Interest in nutrition and/or holistic approaches to mental health
