The topical focus of the program will be on language, learning, computation, and cognition, with an emphasis on giving students the skills they need to complete an independent project. Mentors will be from cognitive science departments across Stanford, including Psychology, Linguistics, Computer Science, and Philosophy. One goal of the internship is to increase the diversity of the higher education pipeline, and we therefore especially encourage applicants who come from groups that are historically underrepresented in research careers. We also welcome applications from students without prior research experience and from non-research institutions.The program is intended for rising college Juniors and Seniors from outside Stanford University, but we will consider all applicants for the program. To be eligible, you must be a documented U.S. citizen, a permanent resident in possession of an alien registration card (I-555), or an international student enrolled in a U.S. undergraduate institution.

SROP at UIC is an immersive, 8-week program to support BIPOC and other talented historically underrepresented undergraduates who want to apply to graduate school. Students take part in developing a research project in their selected field of study in collaboration with a faculty mentor over the course of 8 weeks, from May 27 to July 31, 2021. Other aspects of the SROP at UIC experience involves research writing and presenting: as well as professional development, including an integrated Graduate Applications Portfolio Seminar and presentations at the SROP at UIC Virtual Research Symposium.

The LGS-SOAR (Summer Opportunity for Academic Research) (June 1-August 6) partners with the well-established Emory College SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research Experience) Program and will host potential LGS students (current NON-Emory Undergraduate scholars) who want to explore, experience, and conduct full-time independent and mentored research for the summer. The program is unique in that all scholars will be from historically underrepresented ethnic and racial backgrounds in graduate education or who participated in NIH-RISE, NIH-IMSD, Mellon Mays, McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, OR who are first-generation college scholars who participated in Upward Bound, Talent Search, Educational Opportunities Centers, or similar programs. Additionally, financial support will be provided by either LGS or the home institution of the student. Housing is also included.

The Lila R. Gleitman Undergraduate Summer Fellowship Program in Interdisciplinary Mind and Brain Studies at Penn is a full-time, 10-week research experience. Admitted students will be awarded a $4500 salary stipend for research work with a Penn faculty mentor. The first week of the program will include workshop-style sessions with faculty as well as a short training course in R programming, and weekly lunches will bring program participants together for research discussions throughout the summer.
