Description:
Dr. Spangler’s research utilizes mobile sensors to investigate the dynamic physiological, behavioral, and psychological features of naturalistic stress and their impacts on health. His current research aims to: (1) estimate how real-world stress varies across multiple timescales, contexts, and individual attributes (e.g., gender, ethnicity, socioemotional traits), and (2) harness mobile technologies to both predict and prevent cardiovascular disease and psychopathology. Candidates with strong interest in the research conducted by the lab are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
The research coordinator is expected to be an integral member of the research team. Responsibilities will include recruiting and screening research participants, running both in-lab and out-of-lab experiments that utilize biobehavioral sensors, managing participant databases, organizing project funds, preparing IRB protocols, coordinating ongoing projects in the lab, managing lab logistics/supplies, as well as recruiting new lab members. There are also opportunities to conduct independent projects and contribute to writing and publishing research papers. Training will be provided for the responsibilities of the position. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in graduate or medical school in disciplines such as biopsychology, neuroscience, clinical psychology, health and human development, data science, biomedical engineering, and/or computer science (e.g., affective computing).
Minimum requirements for this position include the following:
● Bachelor’s degree in psychology, health, neuroscience, biology, computer science, engineering, or
related field.
● 1-2 years of research experience, preferably with human participants
● Experience with data analysis and/or data management
● Strong attention to detail, organizational and oral/written communication skills in English
● Proficiency in Word/Excel/PowerPoint or equivalent
Preferred experience (but not required):
● Programming languages such as Python, R, Matlab, etc.
● Physiological data acquisition (ECG, EEG, skin conductance, etc.)
● Graphic design tools such as Adobe, Inkscape, etc.
