The EDHD230 course (Human Development and Societal Institutions) is being offered online during the Summer II session, which runs from July 13 to August 21, 2020. This course fulfills the requirement for Distributive Studies - History and Social Sciences (DSHS) and Diversity - Understanding Plural Societies (DVUP) as well as core requirements for Behavioral and Social Sciences (SB) and Human Cultural Diversity (D). This course also fulfills requirements for the Human Development major AND minor!
The course will focus on child development in the context of relationships with the formal and informal institutions of society. The course will introduce students to the foundational theories of developmental psychological science and discuss a variety of influences on development, including, the self, the family, and culture. The course will also provide an opportunity to discuss current events and how it may be impacting child development.
