Volunteer Research Assistant Positions
Military Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (MiCOR) program and the Developmental and Research Laboratory on Eating and Weight Behaviors at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU)

Description: 
MiCOR and the Developmental and Research Laboratory on Eating & Weight Behaviors at the USU are seeking highly motivated students enrolled in bachelor’s/master’s degree programs to volunteer under the direction of Dr. Marian Tanofsky-Kraff, a Professor in the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology (Primary) and Medicine (Secondary) at USU and Research Director of MiCOR, which is focused on understanding and intervening on biopsychosocial risk factors for cardiovascular disease among military members. Volunteers will support staff by collecting and entering data, as well as leading efforts to increase participant recruitment and enrollment. The current projects requesting volunteer support include an NIH-funded trial aimed at preventing eating disorders and reducing excessive weight gain in adolescent military dependents, as well as DHA-funded research projects that focus on reducing adverse cardiovascular outcomes through obesity prevention in active duty military families.

Qualifications/Requirements: 
Volunteers must commit to at least 10 hours per week for a minimum of 8 months. It is expected that volunteers take initiative and are reliable, thorough, and detail-oriented. This experience is ideal for individuals planning to pursue graduate work in psychology, medicine, nursing, or a related field. We are looking for a volunteer to start immediately, as well as a volunteer to begin in May 2020.
