Description:
The Laboratory of Cognition and Emotion in the Department of Psychology (www.lce.umd.edu) is seeking two motivated and energetic undergraduate assistants to recruit families for study participation and aid in conducting fMRI experiments. These individuals will share recruitment and experimentation duties. No prior knowledge is required. Recruitment responsibilities include making phone calls to potentially interested families, communicating with families through email, and scheduling appointments. Experimentation responsibilities include helping the investigators by guiding minor participants through the pre-MRI procedures (i.e. consenting, mock scanning) and accompanying them while they undergo fMRI scanning. Additionally, the research assistant may be asked to do various tasks in the lab including data entry and flyer distribution. The research assistants will receive supervised training in a psychological research laboratory. This position is paid $15/hour. 

Responsibilities:
-Make phone calls to potentially interested families
-Actively check and respond to emails from lab members on a daily basis
-Ensure that children undergoing MRI scanning are safe and comfortable
-Protect participant confidentiality
-Attend one off-campus recruitment event in the DC area per semester
-Assist project members when available
- 1 semester commitment required
- 4-5 hour/week commitment

Qualifications:
-Strong communication and organizational skills
-Interest in psychological research
-Weekend and evening availability
-Minimum 3.0 GPA
-Availability for Spring Semester 2020
-Candidates also available in the summer and/or fall will be given preference
