Laboratory of Emotion and Psychopathology (LEAP)
Description:
Dr. Blanchard's NIMH-funded lab conducts research on how psychotic disorders can interfere with healthy social relationships. Currently he is studying how social affiliation is altered in psychosis using behavioral assessments along with brain imaging (fMRI). Responsibilities:
*Male research assistants needed to conduct structured social interactions with research participants at the Maryland Neuroimaging Center (MNC): http://www.mnc.umd.edu (Note that the lab already has sufficient number of female RAs for this study.)
*Accompany participants during their imaging assessment.
*Attend weekly lab meetings.
Requirements:
* Since the lab already has female staff we are in need of male research assistants to conduct research assessments with our female research participants.
* Minimum 3.2 GPA
* Must be able to provide a 2 semester commitment of approximately 8-10 hours per week year (availability for Spring and Summer 2020 is ideal).
* Availability at least 1-2 days/week during either of the following times:
- 9am-12:30pm (9am-2pm preferred)
- 11:30am-3pm (11:30am-4:30pm preferred)
* Pass fMRI safety screening and safety training
* Ideally suited for Psychology majors interested in graduate school or medical school.
