Description:
The Fluency Bank project is collecting data from our own lab as well as other universities and researchers, for the study of the development of fluency in both typical and disordered populations. Right now we are working on coding and analyzing existing corpora of language samples from populations like children and adults who stutter, bilingual children and children with language delays. We are also collecting new data through an on-campus longitudinal study of four groups of preschoolers (Spanish-English bilinguals, children who stutter, children with language delays and typically developing children).
-Recruiting and scheduling participants
-Testing participants in English and possibly Spanish
-Writing and sending reports to parents
-Editing videos from testing sessions
-Assigning and overseeing undergraduate student transcription work in a large lab (~20 students)
-Transcribing and coding language samples in CLAN (the language sample analysis program we use)
-Coordinating lab meetings
-Tracking and ordering supplies
-Tracking grant finances
Required Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree
-Experience working on research projects
-Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
-Strong computer skills in Excel and Word; comfort with learning new computer applications
-Strong organization skills
Desired Qualifications:
-Fluency in Spanish
-Research project management experience
-Experience with CLAN
-Statistical analysis skills
-Knowledge about language development
