Paid Hotline Specialist Positions
Community Crisis Services, Inc.

Description:
Community Crisis Services, Inc. is seeking staff hotline specialists who care and are committed to meeting the needs of callers in crisis and in need of emotional support.

Please join us as a hotline specialist! CCSI offers 24 hour critical support to those in crisis in Prince George's County, our state, and across our nation. Hotline specialists serve those needing access to homeless shelters, information about financial assistance and food pantry programs, support in times of emotional distress, or even help staying safe through thoughts of suicide. Through contracts with several government and non-profit agencies, CCSi’s hotline program provides a variety of services.

How can I help? As a hotline specialist you will talk directly to callers, offering support and assistance by listening, acknowledging, and reassuring, as well as providing information about resources that could help improve a caller’s circumstance.

What training will I receive? You will receive 45 hours of training from our qualified staff around
active listening skills, suicide prevention techniques, issues related to mental health, and information about local resources. Training during the Summer 2019 months will take place on an ongoing basis and sessions will be scheduled based on the availability of trainees.

What is the commitment? Incoming hotline specialists are asked to cover at least 12 hours per week.

What kind of support will I have? You will join a team of dedicated staff, volunteers, and interns who work as a team and as a family! You will work hotline shifts alongside hotline supervisors and fellow hotline workers, and have access to a 24/7 supervisor on call for emergencies.

Staff hotline specialists are compensated at $12 per hour to start, but have potential to be shifted to $14 per hour should they complete training to answer all of the lines that Community Crisis Services, inc. answers.

***Community Crisis Services, inc. currently has strong needs for bilingual staff to answer calls. Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply!***

Interested applicants must send their resume and a cover letter indicating their interest in the hotline specialist position to Mr. Jamie Brill, Call Center Director, at jamieb@ccsimd.org.
