Description:
The Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a Clinical Research Assistant to work in the areas of clinical pharmacology, neuroscience, and alcohol use disorder research. The research project focuses on testing the effects of a medication on neuroinflammation in individuals with alcohol use disorders and healthy controls.
This is a Full-Time, Contractual position.

Essential Functions:
-Conduct informed consent procedures.
-Conduct study assessments, including diagnostic assessment, structured interviews, cognitive testing, and questionnaires.
-Assist with neuroimaging procedures and collection of related data.
-Work with a research team to coordinate study activities.
-Check and enter data. Perform data analysis and interpretation, and develops statistical reports of study data using descriptive statistics using SAS, STATA, and SPSSS software. Assists in developing, submitting, and providing content for grants, papers, abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations. -Conducts and analyzes literature searches.
-Collect and transport biological specimens or materials as instructed.
-Perform administrative duties such as: providing training and guidance to interviewers; assisting in developing and submitting grants, papers, abstracts, manuscripts and presenting studies; developing protocol manuals and data collection instruments; participating in field visits, responding to requests and questions from individuals, institutions, government agencies, and funding agencies; and participating in the design of research studies.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in Psychology, Biology, Neuroscience, and/or related field.
Preferred Experience: Some previous experience working in a biological or behavioral research program and/or hands on research experience with patient population.
Other: Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
-Ability to understand both verbal and written communications in English.
-Ability to network with and provide information to key groups and individuals.
-Ability to work as part of a team.
-Ability to use a consultative approach to resolve issues in area of responsibility.
-Ability to use statistical software (e.g. MATLAB, SAS, STATA, SPSS) and experience with conducting statistical analysis are not required but will be given special consideration.
