20 Hours Per Week

Description:
The Baby Books 2 Project at the University of Maryland, College Park needs a highly capable, eager, and motivated individual to serve as a part-time home visitor and recruiter for an NICHD-funded parent intervention project working with low-income, ethnic minority families.

Qualifications:
A person with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Native fluency in Spanish and a highly flexible work schedule is required. The home visitor/recruiter must have excellent communication skills, be culturally sensitive, and work well with others. The home visitor/recruiter works with project staff to build and maintain rapport with families and community partners. The applicant must be willing to commit to varied weekly shifts (evenings & weekends) for a total of up to 20 hours/week. Home visitors must accommodate to families’ schedules and be available as needed. Prior experience working with children, home visiting, or recruiting is preferred. Applicants able to provide their own transportation to home visits are strongly preferred. The Baby Books 2 Project home visitors will be part of a dynamic and engaged team working to serve families in the DMV area.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the home visitor/recruiter would include: - preparing materials for home visit kits and coordinating travel to and from homes - conducting parent interviews in Spanish and English during 2.5-hour home visits - administering child assessments to 9-30-month-old children during home visits -weekly recruitment shifts at various community partner sites  This position also offers applicants the opportunity to join the University of Maryland community and interact with diverse set of organizations, families, and settings. Position is available as soon as possible.
