Research Assistant Positions
Cognition and Development Lab
Description:
The Cognition and Development Lab, co-directed by Drs. Lucas Butler and Richard Prather, is seeking a highly motivated and dependable undergraduate research assistant for the Fall 2018 school semester. This research assistant will have the opportunity to work closely with faculty and other researchers on a study investigating the relation between parents’ and children’s ‘math talk’ and children’s developing number concepts. This individual will be responsible for recruiting families, data collection, and data coding and entry for 7- to- 10-year-old children. This opportunity is ideal for students who are interested in graduate school and in gaining invaluable first-hand research experience. PSYC and EDHD course credit available. Those students who are interested may also be included in an additional study involving the use of Python programming and computational modeling software and EEG imaging techniques.

Responsibilities:
-6 or 9 hours per week in lab
-Attend regular lab meeting with the Principal Investigator (Dr. Richard Prather) and the lab coordinator, among those involved in the study
-Participant recruitment
-Data collection (running studies with children and their parents)
-Data coding and entry
Qualifications:
-Minimum 3.2 GPA
-At least 1 semester commitment required (2 semesters preferred)
-Experience/strong interest in working with children
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Detail-oriented
-Strong organizational skills
-Completed PSYC 100 (preferred)
