Research Assistant Position (Participant Recruitment)
Laboratory of Cognition and Emotion
Description:
The Laboratory of Cognition and Emotion in the Department of Psychology (www.lce.umd.edu) is seeking one motivated and energetic undergraduate assistant to recruit families for the Infant and Child Studies (ICS) Database at various events around the DC area during the Spring-Summer of 2018. This individual will travel to pre-determined events (e.g., farmer’s markets, festivals, fairs) and speak to parents about the ICS database, what sort of research their children could be involved in, and recruiting those who are interested. They will learn more about the database and recruitment at these events, no prior knowledge is required. Having access to a car is a not a requirement, but recommended, as drivers are needed to drive other volunteers to these events. Additionally, this individual may be asked to make batch phone calls to potentially interested families.
Responsibilities:
-Show up to community events (Farmer’s markets, festivals, etc.) around the DC area
-Make phone calls to potentially interested families
-Engage with parents and children about the ICS database
- 4 hour/week commitment
Qualifications:
-Strong communication skills
-Interest in psychological research
-Weekend availability
-Minimum 3.0 GPA
