A full-time research technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr Joseph Scafidi in the Center for Neuroscience Research at Children’s National Health System in Washington, DC. The position will provide a recent or soon to be graduating college student the opportunity to work with the principal investigator on conducting cellular, molecular, biochemical and imaging experiments. The laboratory studies the effects of developmental brain injury using different rodent models. Major responsibilities include assistance with maintaining a comprehensive transgenic animal colony, collecting and processing tissue, immunohistochemistry, cellular imaging, whole brain imaging using MRI and MR-spectroscopy, behavioral studies and biochemical assays to name a few. This is a wonderful opportunity for students who plan to attend graduate school.
Qualifications:
-Bachelors in biological or chemical sciences or psychology
-Previous experience with rodents is a plus
