Interested in PTSD treatment and research? Consider this volunteer opportunity with the DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center!

Undergraduate Data Specialist Position
Trauma Services Program
Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center
The Trauma Services Program at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center is seeking
applications for a part-time undergraduate student to engage in data analysis and program evaluation in our clinical unit.

Description:
The Washington DC VAMC Trauma Services Program (TSP) is an outpatient specialty clinic that provides assessment, education, and treatment to Veterans diagnosed with Post traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Our primary mission is to help Veterans with PTSD reduce their suffering and improve their quality of life. In the TSP, we work collaboratively with Veterans to capitalize on their resiliency and strengths in order to assist them in their healing and recovery from PTSD.

In the Trauma Services Program we are always working to improve our services to veterans with PTSD. We are seeking undergraduate students who can provide part-time support for our program evaluation and program development projects. Tasks include assisting with coordination of data gathering, chart reviews for extraction of data, interactions with patients to gather program feedback data, and data entry. The position may also include assisting our postdoctoral fellows directly on their projects. At this time we are seeking students who can provide at least an 8-hour commitment for the fall semester. These hours could be spread onto two days, and may have the option to continue for the spring semester. This is an unpaid position.

Our hope is to provide an opportunity that provides experience in working within a mental health team, teaches skills in program evaluation, and exposure to various important aspects of mental health and specifically PTSD treatment. A student is likely to be a good fit for this position if they have warm and effective interpersonal skills, are detail-oriented, conscientious, and interested in psychology, trauma, and veterans.
