Psi Chi was founded in 1929 with two main purposes: - to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship - to advance the science of psychology. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is affiliated with the American Psychological Society. Over 1,100 chapters are in operation around the world, with over 600,000 lifetime members. Distinguished individuals involved in Psi Chi include B.F. Skinner and Albert Bandura, among others. This organization offers over $350,000 in grants and awards each year and seeks to provide an academic environment that fosters creative development.
Requirements:
Undergraduate: Declared Psychology Major
Undergraduate: 3.3 Psychology GPA, 3.0 General GPA
Undergraduate: 3 Semesters at UMD
Undergraduate (TRANSFERS): 1 Semester at UMD
Undergraduate: 9 Course Credits of Psychology
Graduate: B in all coursework
Both: Transcripts
Both: Completed Application
Once a member, must attend 3 meetings per semester to maintain membership
How To Apply:
Step #1:
Fill out the membership application and attached member information sheet completely
Obtain a copy of your unofficial transcript electronically (http://www.testudo.umd.edu)
Email completed materials to psichi.umd@gmail.com, or hand in a hard copy to a board member at one of our posted chapter meetings
Deadline: October 20th, 2016

NOTE: You will be contacted by one of our executive board members if you have been accepted for membership into our chapter. Once accepted, you only have one more step to complete until you are officially a Psi Chi member!
Step #2:
Fill out the Psi Chi membership card completely and email it to psichi.umd@gmail.com
Fill out an $85 check made out to Psi Chi for your one-time, lifetime membership fee
Hand in your check to a Psi Chi board member at a posted chapter meeting

You will be sent an invitation to be a part of the Psi Chi induction ceremony to officially become a Psi Chi member!
