Description:
The Brain Assessment Research Laboratory in the Department of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland, has an opening for a Research Assistant at our location at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. Description: The lab seeks an energetic, well-organized, detail-oriented, responsible, and dedicated individual with excellent interpersonal skills to work full-time as a Research Assistant on a clinical research project at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. This work is part of a large, multi-site, longitudinal study of U.S. veterans and active duty service members previously deployed in support of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The project involves assessment of brain function in service members who have sustained mild traumatic brain injury and healthy controls. The primary measures are event-related brain potentials (ERPs) and EEG. Neurocognitive and neuroimaging measures as well as chronic behavioral sequelae and comorbidities are also measured.
Responsibilities:
-Patient recruitment, scheduling, and interviewing
-Electrophysiological Testing
-Data processing, entry, and analysis
-Maintaining databases and files
-Word processing and preparation of figures and slides
-Purchasing
-Other duties in support of research projects.
-Assistance in preparation of manuscripts and presentations may also be required.
Requirements:
-An excellent academic record and research experience
-English fluency
-Bachelor's or Master’s degree
-Previous experience with EEG/ERP recording, Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical packages (e.g., SPSS, R) are highly desirable.
-Demonstrated ability to work independently is essential.
-Weekend work and flexible scheduling may be required occasionally.
-Occasional meetings at Walter Reed in Bethesda, MD may be required.
-Access to a car and a valid driver’s license are mandatory.
