PSYC 221 Social Psychology

Social Psychology (PSYC 221) focuses on variables that influence human social behavior. This course examines various aspects of social behavior, including first impressions, attraction, aggression, helping, prejudice, cooperation, etc. Content draws on classic studies (e.g., proximity effects), as well as newer theoretical advances such as moral foundations theory. The course is pluralistic and cross-cultural, incorporating research from other fields including political science, economics, gender studies, and biology. This course focuses on challenging myths and misconceptions about human nature. Dr. Selterman's goal as an instructor is not to each students what to think, but how to think.
