Interested in pursuing a counseling or therapy career? Consider training to become a Hotline Call Counselor with the Montgomery Mental Health Association!


Hotline Call Counselor
HOPES (Hotline, Outreach & Programming for Emotional Support) offers crisis intervention and supportive listening for people experiencing mental health challenges through MHA’s free, confidential, 24-hour hotline (301-738-CALL). Hotline Counselors provide supportive and confidential listening; crisis prevention and intervention; and give information, referrals and resources. All interested volunteers must complete the hotline’s 52-hour prep course, starting on January 9th. Great experience for students interested in graduate school or who are entering careers in counseling, therapy or the nonprofit field. Also an opportunity for anyone looking for a meaningful experience and a way to give back to the community. Must have a high school diploma and be at least 18 years of age.
Responsibilities:
-Interns must commit to working three 4 hour shifts per week

Qualifications:
-applicants must be at least 18 years of age
-must have high school diploma
-students pursuing degree in field of mental health preferred
