Paid Part-time Student Assistant (Multiple Positions)
Description:
Friends Community School, a K–8 Quaker, progressive school located in College Park, MD, is currently seeking two Student Assistants, preferably for the duration of the academic year, to help a 7th grade boy struggling with behavioral, social, and cognitive difficulties stemming from a rare brain tumor (craniopharyngioma) that was reseated in 2008. The Student Assistants will help in implementing a behavior plan set by a clinical psychologist from Children’s National Medical Center, communicate with the team of doctors (if needed) and assist with transitions, executive function, and memory difficulties. Each assistant will receive a stipend.
Responsibilities:
-Monitor student coping mechanisms
-Monitor food seeking behavior
-Assist with implementing behavior plan
-Assist with developing social and executive function skills
-Assist with transitions between classes
-Track student progress
