This position is funded by the state of Maryland’s Developmental Disability Administration (DDA) through the Self-Directed Waiver Program.
Description:
-Plan day trips and drive long distances (Hershey, King’s Dominion, Six Flags, Ocean City, Utz Factory, Sandy Point Beach, Philadelphia, skiing)
-Plan events within the community (Food drives, Toys for Tots, ice skating, pool parties, dining out, tie dying shirts, bowling, going to the movies).
This is a position that provides direct care and support services to an adult client with Mental Illness, Cognitive Disabilities, and Developmental Delays. The support counselor will support the client and assist in daily activities, including exercise, cooking, cleaning, scheduling, and traveling.
Minimum Qualifications:
• College degree preferred, or college coursework in Human Services (Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Counseling, Criminology)
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities
• Must be a fun and energetic person
• Must have a vehicle, valid U.S. driver's license, and a good driving record
• Ability to successfully complete a drug, criminal background, and professional reference check
