Description:
The Association for Psychological Science (APS), a DC-based scientific organization, seeks a creative, highly-motivated, and organized individual for the Production Coordinator full-time position. APS is dedicated to the advancement and representation of scientific psychology across the full range of research areas in this diverse field. APS has 33,000 members from around the world and includes the field’s leading scientists, academics, educators, and students. APS educates the public and policymakers about psychological science, keeps our members informed about new developments and trends in the field, publishes 5 highly respected journals, hosts an annual US-based conference and a biannual international conference, and connects thousands of job seekers with opportunities in the field. Our informal operating motto is “lean and nice.”

Responsibilities:
-Assist with preliminary layout, including graphic design adjustments, of the membership magazine, the Observer
-Manage Observer production schedule with vendors
-Collect and manage photographs featured in APS publications and online
-Carry out specified fact-checking procedures for magazine articles and online content
-Liase with other APS staff and members on production matters
-Write occasional copy, headlines, and abstracts for Observer and website content
-Format and posts content to APS website
-Assemble and disseminate four monthly electronic newsletters for APS members and psychology students, using repurposed content produced by the APS news team
-Assist with editorial coverage and logistical tasks at the APS Annual Convention
Collaborate with APS News team on content development and other creative projects

Qualifications:
-Four-year college degree
-1 to 2 years of relevant experience
-Proficient with Microsoft Office
-Experience with Adobe Creative Suite; experience with Constant Contact a plus
-Familiarity with WordPress and basic HTML proficiency
-Strong editing and writing skills
-Demonstrate ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
-Excellent interpersonal, problem resolution, and teamwork skills
-Perform other duties as assigned
