Description:
The DC Rape Crisis Center is actively recruiting volunteers! This organization maintains 24-hour crisis services for survivors of sexual assault, their family, and friends. The DC Rape Crisis Center offers a variety of volunteer experiences, so you can choose what best fits your personal strengths and interests. There are both direct service and non-direct service opportunities continuously available.
How to Apply:
Learn more and register for the mandatory training to become a volunteer at the following link: http://dcrapecrisiscenter.org/volunteer/ The training covers crisis counseling, medical, and legal issues related to sexual assault. It includes lectures and discussions, as well as role-plays to practice counseling techniques. The training also addresses social issues which impact both the clients and the volutneers' ability to be there for them, including racism, homophobia, and cross-cultural counseling.
