General Description:
Child Trends has an opening for a research assistant to work as part of an experienced research team conducting qualitative research projects on reproductive health (e.g., adolescent and young adult sexual activity; contraceptive behaviors and decision-making; pregnancy; childbearing intentions; health delivery, etc.) and family formation (e.g., union formation and stability; relationship dynamics, etc.) in collaboration with senior staff members. Research studies in this area place special emphasis on racial/ethnic minorities, in particular Latinos, and low-income families.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Conducts literature reviews and assists in synthesizing research findings.
• Conducts structured and semi-structured interviews (in person and over the phone) for projects requiring primary data collection.
• Handles logistics for qualitative data collection projects such as recruitment, screening, and scheduling.
• Assists in the development of survey instruments, interview and focus group protocols, and IRB packets.
• Enters, cleans, codes, and analyzes qualitative and quantitative data.
• Processes secondary data using SAS, STATA, or other statistical packages.
• Produces presentations for conferences and helps format journal articles, briefs, and reports.
• Assists with clerical tasks, information requests, and photocopying, when necessary.
• Manages meeting logistics, takes detailed meeting notes, organizes project files, and tracks important project deadlines.
