Problem solve, interpret policy, and utilize your analytical skills! The National Institutes of Health are looking for current graduate students or recently graduated master’s degree graduates to spend at least 40 hours a week working in our Office of Human Resources, Client Services Division, supporting senior human resource specialists and NIH customers.

This internship opportunity, at The National Institutes of Health, in Rockville, Maryland, plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the Human Capital talent needs of our 27 NIH Institutes and Centers are met in support of the Office of Human Resource mission. Responsibilities:
  • Can start work as soon as possible and work full time (40 hours per week)
  • Partner with higher level human resource specialists in recruitment and staffing functions. 
  • Prepare vacancy announcements, determine qualifications of applicants, develop certificates, conduct reference checks, ensure that requisite clearances are obtained, make employment offers, determine pay, and processing personnel actions. 
  • Review pertinent human capital regulations and style manuals governing written communications in order to prepare written materials which effectively communicate the intended information.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Human resources or related major student, or recent Graduate interested in human resources
  • A current student enrolled and pursuing a master’s degree in human resources or any related field or a recent graduate within two years of graduation
  • At least 16 years of age
  • U.S. citizen
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree seeking program or recently graduated
  • Must be enrolled or plan on enrolling in the current or upcoming semester or recently graduated
  • Be or was in good academic standing (cumulative GPA 3.0 or above)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a customer focus
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to take initiative on projects and problem solve
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
