Apply to become a Volunteer Peer-Counselor with the UMD Help Center!

Help Center is UMD's student-run peer crisis and 
counseling intervention hotline. They offer both
hotline and drop-in services to our students and to the greater College Park area. As a counselor, you will be trained to help people dealing with roommate issues, relationship dilemmas, mental health, thoughts of suicide, and other life issues.

Training begins only once a semester.

You MUST be available for the following mandatory, in-person training dates:
Group Dynamics: Thursday, October 2nd, 2025 @ 8:00pm to 9:30pm
Training Weekend Day 1: Saturday, October 4th, 2025 @ 10:00am to 3:00pm
Training Weekend Day 2: Sunday, October 5th, 2025 @ 11:00am to 3:30pm

DEADLINE TO SIGN UP IS MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH, 2025

Responsibilities:
-Train to be a Peer Counselor
-Attend 4 hour shifts once a week
-Table Events

Qualifications:
-UMD Freshman or Sophomore
-Have an interest in mental health
