by Dr. Geetha Ramani, is looking for a new lab manager. Research conducted in the ECI Lab focuses on understanding the development of children's mathematics and problem-solving skills. The lab also focuses examining on how social interactions, play, and informal learning activities promote children’s mathematical and executive functioning development.
Description
Projects being conducted in the lab include understanding the role of the home environment on children's mathematical development, how correlates, such as executive functioning, influence how children learn math, as well as examining the benefits and unique processes of learning through joint play and activities. This position is for 1 year with a desired start date of June 2025.
Responsibilities/Requirements
Lab duties include preparation of study materials, mailing the materials to participants, participant recruitment and communication, and data collection for studies with children and adult participants both in-person and over Zoom. Responsibilities also include training and supervising undergraduate assistants, transcribing videos, cleaning/coding data, assisting with data analysis, organizing meetings, and assisting with IRB protocols.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree by the start date, with a preferred major in human development, psychology, cognitive science, education, or related fields. Successful candidates should have keen attention to detail and the ability to work with parents and children. They should also be able to work both independently and in collaboration with others as well as have strong multi-tasking and organizational skills. The ideal candidate would be someone who has an interest in mathematical development and/or the home learning environment and who is seeking additional research experience before pursuing graduate training. The candidate must have access to a car to assist with mailing materials to participants.
