research assistants to work on the national
Healthy Brain and Cognitive Development (HBCD) study at the University of Maryland.
The HBCD study is recruiting women during pregnancy and following their infants through the first five years of their lives. https://heal.nih.gov/research/infants-and-children/healthy-brain. This position involves assisting with study visits, and undergraduate research assistants will gain experience with behavioral coding, electroencephalogram (EEG) collection, electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) collection, MRI collection, taking part in research discussions, and play an active role in behavioral and physiological data collection. Then work will be supervised by Drs. Nathan Fox in the Child Development Laboratory, Tracy Riggins in the Neurocognitive Development Laboratory, and/or Brenda Jones Harden in The Prevention & Early Adversity Research Lab (PEARL).
Requirements:
This position requires a flexible schedule, including weekend and evening availability. Many of our undergraduate research assistants present at the annual Undergraduate Research Day. The position requires attention to detail, proper time management, and excellent interpersonal skills. We ask for a two-semester commitment, but space is not guaranteed. Credit is available for PSYC 479, BSCI 399, EDHD 498, & PHSC 389 as well as work study for those interested!
