Full-Time Post-Bac Research Assistant Positions with CECEI! Application deadline is 6/15!

The Center for Early Childhood Education and 
Intervention (CECEI), in the College of Education at the University of Maryland, is a joint initiative between the Department of Counseling, Higher Education and Special Education and the Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology. The mission of the CECEI is to conduct high quality research on early childhood education and early intervention programs in order to inform State and Federal policy, to translate research into scalable education programs and best practices, to build capacity in schools and communities, and to promote family engagement in their children’s education. 

Position Description:
CECEI is seeking five post-baccalaureate individuals to serve as Research Assistants (RAs) for the Implementation and Impact Evaluation of Maryland’s Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Support Services (IECMHSS) Program, under the direction of Dr. Christy Tirrell-Corbin and Dr. Brenda Jones Harden. The position will start in June 2023 and run through June 30, 2024, with continuation dependent upon performance and funding. This is a full-time, paid position with benefits. With support from other Center personnel, RAs will engage in data collection with IECMHSS regional program staff, child care center personnel, children, and families. They will also be responsible for data entry and management and contribute to data analysis and dissemination. Most of the data collection will be onsite in early childhood programs which makes access to a car a minimum qualification for this position. 

Minimum Qualifications: 
● Bachelor’s degree in human development, education, psychology, family science, or a related field. 
● Research experience. 
● Evidence of strong communication skills, both oral and written. 
● Excellent interpersonal skills. 
● Attention to detail and ability to work autonomously. 
● Proficiency in using Google Workspace. 
● Access to a car. Work experience with young children and/or in a child care program is highly preferred. 
● Experience working with children and families conducting child assessments (such as in a campus research lab or center) is highly preferred. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
● Experience in early childhood classrooms. 
● Background using SPSS or other data entry programs is preferred and Spanish fluency is highly desirable.
