Part-Time Paid Bilingual Research Assistant Position! 10-20 Hours Per Week!

Part time paid research assistant position for a project on Language assessment of bilingual speakers in aging and stroke.
Seeking a part-time (10-20 hours per week) research assistant (RA) to
work on a project on language assessment of Spanish-English speakers, both typical participants and those with language impairments following stroke. The position will support Dr. Faroqi-Shah’s research at the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences at the University of Maryland, and is ideal for someone with a strong interest in how people produce and understand language and in how these processes can break down following brain damage.

This position will support Dr. Faroqi-Shah’s research for a project on Language assessment of Spanish-English bilingual speakers in aging and stroke. It is ideal for someone with a strong interest in how people produce and understand language and in how these processes can break down following brain damage.
 
Responsibilities will include assisting with participant recruitment, data collection, data management, and data analysis. Hours are flexible, but note that the position does require majority in-person work and some of the work can be completed off-site (including outreach visits).

The position can start immediately and will continue through the summer, with with the possibility of extending until the end of June 2023 (contingent on performance).

Minimum weekly commitment of 10 hours per week. Graduate or undergraduate students may apply.

Qualifications:
-Able to communicate fluently in both Spanish and English, orally and in writing
3.0+ GPA
-Organized and detail oriented
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively
-Ability to communicate effectively with potential research participants and make presentations in community settings
-Preferred: Background in communication disorders, disabilities, or health-care settings
-Preferred: Prior lab/research experience
